Madrid, September 23 (EFE).- Spanish researchers have discovered why some children’s immune systems do not respond to bronchiolitis or wheezing, conditions that can be chronic and lead to other types of diseases such as asthma.

To study the possible role of these pathologies, the research team focused on evaluating the presence of this biomarker in children with episodes of bronchiolitis and respiratory distress, which are generally associated with anti-inflammatory properties.

To do this, they performed molecular and cellular biology techniques using nasopharyngeal aspirate samples from children with bronchiolitis (both during and after the disease), respiratory episodes, and healthy children of the same age recruited at the hospital. of study
