Madrid, September 23 (EFE).- The first weekend of autumn, which began this morning at 03:04 peninsular time, will leave a marked thermal drop and intense rainfall in the east, center and north of the peninsula, but in all the Canary Islands, where on Sunday a May develop into a tropical cyclone.

Rain this Friday will be weak, but persistent in Galicia and Cantabrian areas, increasing in intensity from Saturday; Areas of the eastern peninsula and Balearic Islands will experience rain and storms on Saturday and Sunday, locally stronger in Aragon, Catalonia and the Valencian Community and north of the Balearic Islands.

Faced with this situation, the Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated this Friday the orange alert (significant risk) in all provinces of Catalonia due to rain that will accumulate up to 40 liters per square meter in one hour; Aragon and Comunidad Valencia have a yellow warning (risk) due to rain, accumulating between 10 and 20 liters per hour.

In the Canary Islands, a tropical depression is expected to approach from Saturday, which will be widespread, strong or very strong, and will produce persistent rain, especially on Sunday leading to large accumulations in the western islands.

Ammett warned this Friday that the U.S. National Hurricane Center already estimates a “70% chance of forming a tropical cyclone in the Atlantic” within the next 48 hours, and that it will already be moving northward from Cape Verde as a tropical depression. .

The tropical depression is not expected to pass over the Canary Islands, so “the wind will not be a general adverse factor”, but the Spanish islands will not be spared the impact that this event is going to create in the region. Atlantic, they have emphasis from the weather agency.

Regarding the temperature, during the weekend “they will decrease sharply throughout the country”, they indicated from Aemet, although the fall will start today in the northwest, on Saturday they will reach the rest of the Atlantic slope, the high and middle Ebro and the Canary Islands and on Sunday they will reach the Mediterranean region.

Most notable in terms of quality is that they will be more common in autumn, with maximum temperatures not exceeding 20 degrees in the north, although finesse and heat will still persist in parts of the Mediterranean.

By the provincial capitals, on Sunday, the day when the cold atmosphere will settle almost all over the country, Avila, Burgos, Vitoria and Oviedo will reach a maximum of 17 degrees, while San Sebastián, Palencia, Santander and Zamora thermometers range between 18 and 19 degrees.
