Kabul, September 19 (EFE) .- The Taliban announced this Monday that it had released Mark Frerichs, the last US prisoner held by the Islamist group in Afghanistan. This was done in a prisoner exchange in which Haji Bashir Noorzai, a key associate of the fundamentalists, was released.

The interim Afghan foreign minister, Amir Khan Muttaki, announced the exchange between Frerichs, who had been held hostage for more than two years, and Nurzai, who had spent seventeen years in a US prison, at a press conference in Kabul.
