Journalist Fabian Ortiz (Quito, 1943) died this Sunday in Madrid at the age of 79, after a long professional career at the TVE and EFE agencies, where he was representative of the Central American News Agency (ACAN-EFE). Head of UK and Sub-Saharan Africa and EFE-Television.

Ortiz was born in Quito (Ecuador) in 1943 and studied at the Official School of Journalism in Madrid. In the 1970s and 1980s he was a presenter of Spanish television (TVE) newscasts, where he worked with journalists such as IƱaki Gabilondo and reported on the death of dictator Francisco Franco, among other events.
