The Taliban’s ban on female secondary education turned a year old this Sunday, as the radicals blocked its resumption after taking control of Kabul again in August 2021 on the pretext that they should implement a system in accordance with Islamic law.

The veto became official on September 18, 2021, when only high school students were prohibited from returning to school, while their classmates returned to class.
